I'm a "water baby". I've spent most of my life sailing, diving, fishing, and just plain swimming. W've got a pool here in our condo complex, but..... One of my favorite day excursions is only an hour north of SA in New Braunfels. It's not open for the season yet, but the 80 degree days we've been having this past week sent me to their website to check dates. I'm talking about Schlitterbahn, one of the world's best waterparks, and it's practically in our backyard. It opens for the 2008 season on April 26th with limited weekend hours, and begins a full daily operation on June 1st. Check out the link to their website below for further details and prices.

SCHLITTERBHAN WATER PARK

Schlitterbahn

The Schlitterbahn family was again honored with top awards in the World’s Best Waterpark, World’s Best Waterpark Landscaping and the World’s Best Waterpark Ride categories during the 2007 Golden Ticket Award ceremony.

Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort in New Braunfels has over 3 miles of tubing adventures, 7 children’s water playgrounds,17 water slides, the world’s first surfing machine, and 3 uphill water coasters spread over 65 acres of fun!

Quick tips - Pack sunscreen, flipflops and an old tee shirt. A tiny watertight container to hold cash is also a great idea (you can find them at a dive shop or sporting goods store) Keep it minimal! Don't take anything you'll agonise over if you lose it. I try not to tote along anything I can't take on a ride, except for flipflops. I stash them before I get in line for a ride, and hope that they'll still be there when I exit.
